Just got back from lunch and Ermintrude is making a noise a lot like a weed strimmer. Sort of high pitched buzzing whirring noise related to engine speed. Have had a listen with a long bar and the only rotating part that is even vaguely louder than the others is the pas pump but it's loud in a different way to the noise. I am going to put a bit of belt dressing on the belts before I head back outfor a test, but I doubt it is that. Anyone else had similar?

Ok so it was doing the noise across town to pets at home, 15min in there, back to car, dipped oil, started up to come home and noise gone. Or sufficiently minimised to be lost in general background. Bit worried that I didn't find a source and rectify but happy it's normal? What might it have been so I can look for witnesses marks to prevent reoccurrence?

As MadsV posted.....; the power steering pump can make a sounds when the pump is cavitating due to air being drawn in when the power steering fluid is low or when the internal reliefs lifting.
Check your power steering pump level....
