Ok,
Just a query. Can anyone tell me how hard it is to get to the heater matrix in the jimmy? Also, can you visually inspect it whilst it's in situ/operation, or would it need to be removed to have a good inspection? Once it's located, how hard is it to remove it?
I'm only asking as I am investigating a loss of coolant and want to be clued up before I start. I'm currently awaiting a pressure test kit and combustion gas tester. Can't see any visual leaks anywhere and the radiator cap looks to be clean (will need to test it as well).
Every time I drive my jimmy about 60 miles, I need to top up the header and fill the radiator about 2-3 teacups full (using a kettle to fill it up, so taking the measurements from there  )
Many thanks guys.

Thanks Dan,
I'll give him a shout. Hopefully I won't have to venture to those depths, but forewarned is forearmed and all that. I think after pulling out the dash I will be all forearmed, like popeye.

Well, I haven't noticed any wetness on the carpet, but my windows did steam up a little easily, but that could be normal for the jimny.
I'm hoping it's a perished rubber hose or bad hose fitting. Will have to wait for the testing kit to arrive before I get enough evidence to proceed with a proper investigation. Until then, I think I'm just going to have to stop using the motor for a bit. I'll update as soon as I get some info.

The dark side is a head gasket going. Do a compression check or get a sniffer test done to confirm would be my advice before blaming the heater matrix.
