Gear selection issues..... Lost em All :( was created by JimnyGirl85
In my 99 jimny

So changing gear from. 3rd to. 4th.... Nothing... Shifter sloppy as anything.... Like. Litterally moving all. Over the place.. Had to limp.the car home stuck. In 3rd, no. Notches.. No nothing?!

then fiddled with the gear stick on the driveway and the gears were back...... But further to the left, So with the clutch Down tried selecting gears they all seemed to select a few times... Then slop again and nothing... Managed to leave it in neutral.

Ive no. Idea what to do

Suggestions welcome...

It sounds like a linkage issue to me but having a much newer version than yours I wouldn't know where to look. I'm sure someone with actual experience will be along soon. oh and the transfer box is not in neutral is it?

Had this problem, and it was the selector pin on top of the gearbox, get someone to wiggle the stick while your underneath, i was lucky to find a nut and bolt in the jimny to fix mine beside the road,
Can try and get some pictures later if you need help on where to look

There was a recall of the '99s, as suzuki couldn't be bothered assembling the remote linkages on the gearbox properly, and the bolt falls out, and you can't select a gear.

I think it was the one circled in red- it is fitted upside down so that it can fall out in the works.

The blue circled ones can be seen from under the car, and are an easy fix if broken or come out.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Thanks boys!!! This was it! Gears back :D

New bolt fitted and new gearbox mount (it had broken) and now it's right and tight!

Feels closer to our Megane now!
