I used Jif on a cloth to clean the yellowed lights on my son's old Astra. It takes a bit of elbow grease, but it worked.
I've noticed a clear film that looks partially worn on the headlights on my Jim. Almost like a previous owner or dealer has sprayed a protective lacquer on them. I'm tempted to give them a once over with a Halfrauds cutting pad (in my drill chuck) with some mild cutting compound to see if the film comes/polishes off.

I think some 2000 wet and dry followed by 3000 wet and dry then buffed up will do the trick !

Toothpaste on a bit of rag works if they aren't too bad.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

I polish mine with some of that wadding metal polish (poor man's Duraglit) until I can see the bulbs before the MOT.
Takes a few minutes, then I give them a wash, as no doubt the ammonia in the polish attacks plastic.
They cloud over again after about 2 months though.
