It aint/wasnt on my previous car. It'd stall. I went for reverse and instead got 4th. It didnt struggle, stall or stutter.

The clutch is light, no slip etc.

Normal for a Jimny?

Not normally you can't. Mine often as not stalls in 3rd setting of down hill unless I'm horrible to the clutch, it certainly won't entertain 4th. Sounds like you need a new clutch.

So you wanted to go backwards, accidentally selected a forwards gear and then thought 'what the heck, might as well see if this works'.

When you say no clutch slip, you must have slipped the clutch until you were up to at least 10mph or it would have stalled!
