rear lights was created by 44pat44
Hi all, Jimny went for MOT today and the report said higher rear stop lights not working. Come to think of it why has it got two sets of rear lights and what are they for? Thanks in anticipation, patrick

Don't know the answer to why they fit two sets, but my brake, indicator and rear lights are in the bumper. The upper set on my car are fog, reversing and blank/no purpose.

I can only guess they have uses in other countries

Don't know if it's true but rumour has it that in countries that drive on the left the spare wheel obscured the o/side side/parking light when the door was open so lower lights were fitted in the bumper.
As said in the UK there are no upper brake or sidelights and they are blanked out.

Did he mean the stop light on the rear door glass??

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

I don't think so. I took it as the body fitted units.

The Jimny in the UK never had the lights in the upper lenses.
Did he fail it?? If so take it back and tell him he is wrong!!
Just check the stoplight in the rear door glass first though.
Get someone to have a look or back it up to a window or wall so that you can see the reflection.

If you remove one of the rear upper units you will see that there are no holes to fit bulbs.
Some people have cut out the moulding and fitted bulb holders.
