How do i get these clips off? Just use a flat screw driver? I just know I'm going to break some

just like you thought - flathead screwdrive (as close in size to the slot as possible) - gently prise/lever apart.

they're pretty tough so should be OK

Two screw driver blades in the cut outs and lever the centre piece out. Depending how old they are they become brittle and can break the tabs off the outer part as it moves out. Can be got from the ebay for not a lot of money.

Great link Tads - just bought a set. I have a few gadgets for clip removal I bought last year eBay item number:300769370465 but you can never have too many gadgets and can't go wrong for that sort of money.
