Anyone fitted a rear window? was created by Jimnyjack1993
Smashed my rear door window today so wanted to know if any had changed one before? How hard is it to do?

I've only had a quick look at mine but it appears to be a string in. They are pretty easy to fit just make sure you get the old rubber immaculately clear of the old glass or you can pop the new window during fitting. Also it's a good idea to reuse the old rubber unless it's fubar, new rubbers are a real pita. Basic tools you'll need are a couple of suction cups and some string, para cord works well. Don't use washing up liquid or soap as lube it can damage the rubber get something rubber safe.

I've done one on a frozen day, 10 minutes tops, get a decent piece of string that won't snap. Sit the bottom edge in and pull the string around to pull the rubber inside, get a mate to help put pressure on the window.

You could try replacing it with perspex but it will be harder to fit, more likely to leak, you'll lose the heated rear window and the wiper will scratch the hell out of it. There's no good alternative to glass really.
