thanks gilburton. I didn't need to sort this myself as the car is still under a warranty. But from what they told me I believe this is the prop issue you described. They didn't replace the shaft but sealed it with RTV somehow. Seems OK now with a couple of 200 mile trips thrown in. Thanks for the advice.
