500 miles to each set of brake pads!! was created by Docmartin4x4
When ever I go out in Jim it is always to off road or laning, so I thought why buy expensive pads and shoes! but I am only getting 500 miles out of them, has anyone else experienced this?

If you drive on a lot of sandy lanes it might be feasible. A lot of the lanes in Surrey are sandy.

I do tend to spend a lot of my time 'up to the axles in shit' and yes the old quarry is sand! Not got size 18 feet either Halford    but I do have 2 x size 9's!
Anyway I have just ordered some APEC pads so I will see how long they last.

Even with sand, 500 miles is ridiculous!

I think it is par for the course really. All I can suggest is washing the brakes down more thoroughly after each trip, but then water gets in the slider boots and rusts the sliders solid so you lose brake efficiency, which is no good either!

How long are the rear shoes lasting?
