I need your help! - Tyre/Rim Change was created by Kieran678
I want to change the standard 15" alloys to 15" 7J steel rims and put on maxxis that have a depth of 75 instead of the standard 70. The width staying standard at 205mm. All I want to know is, will adding 5mm of tyre wall depth and going from 5.5J to 7J cause me any problems? Does any one have any experience doing this? I understand the change isn't huge but want to know 100% that they will drive perfectly with no rubbing etc etc.
If I could get a reply asap that would be great! cheers!

Hi, the difference between a 205/70 tyre and a 205/75 tyre is about 10mm as the 70 and 75 are not mm but the percentage of the width (205) which determines the wall height.
hope this helps

They look brilliant!! So general day to day use you have no problems? And could I ask where you got your tyres and steels from? I'm going to get the same rims so the offset should be very similar shouldn't it?
Thanks

Kieran you shouldn't have any rubbing problems as from your avater pic it looks likeyou've a pre-2005 model whereas Daniels has the deeper post-2005 bumper that can cause rubbing issues.
