Automatic transmission problem was created by Germny
Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me with an annoying automatic transmission problem that has just surfaced over the past few days.
Occasionally on pulling away the car refuses to change up into 2nd. Pull over, ignition off, restart, then he changes up no problem.
Oil level good and has been changed recently.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Paul.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

In The Olden Days this happened a lot, as the detergent action of the fresh oil dislodged dirt that caused the mechanical govenor to stick: you removed and cleaned it.
Nowadays we have these new fangled "electronic" 'boxes that are computer controlled.
I would suggest that you how have a sticking shift solenoid valve, depending on type, it will be called solenoid C or 1-2 solenoid. JATCO 'boxes are well known for it: worse in cold weather.
It will need the oil pan removing and then you can access the control valve assembly.
I'd take it to a transmission specialist unless you really know what you are doing, and can get the parts.
