My alternator seized up a couple of weeks ago, and the brand new replacement is labelled 12V 85Amp.

Whether this is exactly the same as the original, which suzuki claim is "nominal 60A @ 13.5V" I wouldn't like to say.

Certainly it looks exactly the same, but new cars need more current for the power steering etc. so maybe it is uprated.

The point of my rambling is, 85A is not a million miles away from 100A, and it is an original fit, with nothing to alter.

However, from memory, the rear mount on the engine can be adjusted backwards to accommodate a longer alternator mounting lug, if a higher output alternator with the same method of fixing is available.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Why not instead fit an additional Jimny alternator. If you Jimny is without AC there plenty of space to install if on the left side of the engine. This also gives some redundancy should one of the alternators fail. And easy to get new parts as both are original Jimny alternators.
