Looking for alternative coil springs for a lift was created by Yohann
Hi All,
I want to lift my Jimny as it starts to scrape on some "roads" of the Philippines (ok they are not really roads
) plus it will make it look much cooler.
The problem is that I am living in the Philippines and customs are a pain in the neck, if I order from Europe, I will have to ship the lift kit via courier (UPS, FedEx...) to make sure it will arrive and I will have to pay around 32% of customs taxes on the items value as well as 32% of the amount spend on the shipping. So all in all quite pricey.
I managed to source the Pro Comp shocks needed for a 2 inches lift in the country (front part#118510 rear Part#120500, correct?) but coils are unavailable.
I was wondering if any of you know of an alternative solution such as using coil springs from another model to give me the lift needed or I will have to bite the bullet and order them from abroad.
Any info or suggestions would help.
Cheers

Some people do (did) use coil springs from the old model (2000) vitara diesel.
They used only the back coils (4 pieces) to put in the front as in the rear, should give around 2 inch lift.
If you want to do this... just be sure to test it on a safe place where you can make U-turns and emergency brake stops to feel how your Jimny is reacting !!!
Start gently with these tests and listen carefully, take more then one look underneath whilst testing !

I found this thread which list the possibilities
bigjimny.com/index.php/forum/6-jimny-cha...imitstart=0&start=12
But after reading, it seems wiser to spend the bucks and get proper coils. I will save the taxes and duties on the shocks so it wont be as bad as it could have been!
Thanks for your help!

Try Honda CR-V first and second gen rear springs. They have pretty same diameter as Jimnys.
If you use them as is they will give you about 4" lift. Try to ask about used pair of springs in workshops which repairs Honda CR-V. They would be sagged and give you about 3".
So, new springs in front and used in rear and you got 3" lift.
