metal front bumper

Hi folks ,I have been looking at some of the front metal bumpers available and am just wondering what kind of weight difference can be expected between original and metal?

any metal bumper is going to be heavyer than a standard plastic bumper but how much heavyer depends on what bumper you fit some can be very light & some very heavy

I have an ARB winch bumper, yes its lovely and really does protect the front end of the car, but its far too heavy and affects the handling of the car. Ive had this one 10 years and if I did it again I'd just use a standard bumper and put a winch in behind that as I have done before.

i am trying to make an aluminium bumper it will be much lighter hope to be strong enough

i fab my bumper myself and made it very strong round the winch area the front of the truck would rip off first as when i got my jimny it had a kap front bumper with a big dent in the middle where matey who owned it befor me slid into a tree n not at speed was very slow that was that fooked as it only 3mm thick sheet steel and is not designed strong want happen againe now but with bumper and winch upgraded to heavier springs now better than ever

It wasnt a KAP bumper then they use 5mm for the bumper and between 8and12 mm for the winch section
