Gearbox jingeling ??

Good evening all. Hope somone can help with this one. I've had a metallic jingeling coming from under my Jimny since i fitted a replacement gearbox a couple of months ago. I have searched the forum and found it could have been the Cat heat reflector among a couple of other things. This did not bother me as it could be fixed at any time. Today i had the chance to get under it and have a closer look, It seems to be coming from the output shaft area. if i move the short shaft to & Fro it jingles also if i give the output shaft area a firm thump with the palm of my hand i get the same noise?? Apart from the Jingling noise the gearbox is good, no nasty sounds changing up or down and pulls fine with no noise, no whining from anywhere, Just this jingling noise. I can best describe it as some lose washers on a disc and as it rotates the washers fall and make the jingling sound. Any ideas please ?? I really could do without taking the gearbox out again !!!! Grrr. Cheers.

Hi, I have the same issue,mine was due to worn gearbox mountings.
After replacing them, the noise is gone, hope this helps.

Check for a broken gear change support rod, they snap and the tail end rests on the output prop and rattles

Hi, Just to let you no i solved the mystery of my Jingeling Jimny. Turned out to be the shroud on the end of the short shaft, the tack welds had gone. One to add to the list of the Jingeling Jimny !! Thanks for your help, i had visions of the gearbox coming out again.
