Hi,
In the past I've replaced a g13 sohc engine in an auto with one taken from a manual and all went well.
I've now got a m13a auto with no engine in. I sourced an engine from a manual but when I bolt up the auto flywheel/ring gear the bolts tighten all the way through the crank and lock the engine up solid. Does anyone know if the auto crank is different or have pictures or diagrams showing any bits or a spacer that is missing?
I've read a few threads on engine conversions that mention auto boxes and no-one seems to mention any problems with those but I did speak to a guy that said he has made his own spacer up but the bolts had sheared.
If the engines are different I think I may struggle to find one,
Cheers

Just got the service manual open for an issue I had, so have had a look and it does not mention any differences that I can see from the engine point of view. If you PM me your email address I can send you the service manual file to confirm yourself.

Silly question you are using auto flywheel bolts think it would cost to much to alter a crank fly wheel is cheaper to make if work so i dought there crank is different how dows the ring gear fit in relation the the starter motor

Cheers for the replies
I had thought about bolt length but as the flywheel and bolts were all together in a bag I presumed they were removed from the old engine. Worth a look though.
I think i know someone with an auto liana engine out at the moment so I'm going to check that if poss.
It must be something simple. Hope!

Ok. Update.
Mystery solved. The bolts are the same from either the manual or auto flywheel.
As this car had the engine taken out by someone else they left out a crucial spacer on the end of the crank that i didn't get with the car. I've sourced one and it all fits fine so far.
Time to get it all bolted together then now.
