They aint the best in the world mate unless they have been looked after seem to suffer from the black gunge of death many have met there demise thru oil starvation to the cylider head looked after with regular oil changes they are good units.
How have you concluded that it is piston slap by the way ???

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

How many miles did the engines have on them? if the bores/pistons were that worn then I would also expect low compression and high oil consumption.

First engine has done 14700 miles and was chucking out lots off blue smoke, now it's out iv stripped it down and found the black gunk of death and piston one and two have a lot off piston slap, iv removed the oil rings of the piston and found all oil way blocked.
The engine in the jimny at the mo is making the same noise as the first so iv adjusted all the tappets listened to the block with a scope and hey ho seems to be the piston again, was told the engine has only done 47000 mile hmmmmm very hard miles more like
