Input needed on hardcore Jimny was created by peterand
Hi everyone, I'm old in the offroadgame but new to Jimny. For a change I will try to buidl and drive a small car B) Previously I have enjoyed Grand Cherokees, TLC BJ75 and MB G.

Just bought a -02 with automatic, full stock that I will convert over the winter. It will be a combined Challange / Offroad vechicle, roadlegal but it will just be used for play. I don't mind fabbing parts and cutting in the car.

The whishlist so far

Lockers front and rear. Rear will be either lockright or welded. Front ARB
33" Tires on bedlock rims. MT2 or KL71 or Simex
4-5" lift + 2" bodylift
Cutout wheelhouses
Vinch front and rear
External cage
Steelbumpers front and rear.
some kind of rockcrawler gearing
I guess i will need to invest in stronger driveshafts and CVs etc as well

I would really like some input on primary

1. the Lift, what to buy? Springs, Radius, Panhards, shocks etc What brand is best (highest quality)?
2. Axle upgrades ?
3. Gearing ?

Of course I wellcome all inputs :)

Regards rom Sweden

Hi there i think the big name in 4" + lifts is offroad armoury.
Axle upgraded shafts and cvs are all in progress of making( did here rs eng had some for sale the other day tho) therse a few lads on here running different axles like toyota and landrover
Gearing is all about the transfer box changed for a earlier sj box for ease of getting hold of gears speak with ora rockwatt or bigtony on here about them theyll help you

I've often wondered about an auto with a rocklobster and don't have much knowledge about how the Zuke auto works but people on here have suggested it's electronically controlled and changes gear at a set rpm or something, yet the rpm with the rocklobster will be higher so it'll not know when to change at the right time.

This is an un educated explanation so perhaps someone can step in to help out who understands it better.

Hi again

It seems that shifting is set by speed and throttle position so it will be interesting to see how it works with lowgering. Given that tiresize change I guess it will be ok

My understanding of Auto boxes is that if you put a bigger engine with more torque on a standard box it will move up the ratios quicker.
Also, by gearing it down as with a rocklobster it will do the same thing.

My auto is so smooth that I can only just tell when it makes the first shift. Then, only when I hit 35+mph I see the rev counter drop as it moves into 4th.
