HI THERE JUST WONDERING IF ANYBODY CAN SHED SOME LIGHT ON HOW THE KICKDOWN WORKS ON MY AUTOJIMNY IVE LOST KICKDOWN AND IT STRUGGLES UPHILL BECAUSE OF THIS GEARBOX IS OK FOR FLUID AND IS SMOOTH AS EVER ONLY OTHER AUTOS IVE HAD USE CABLE FOR KICKDOWN BUT NOT JIMNY ANY POINTERS WOULD BE APPRECIATED CHEERS MICHAEL

The jimny uses throttle position to select gear.
If your foot is flat on the floor and it won't change down, likely fault is with the throttle position sensor circuit.
If it is not operating all 4 gears and lockup, you may be in limp home mode, when the gearbox will not operate properly. There is a diagnostic connector, but you need a special code reader for the transmission.

You sure it isn't just down on power due to a blocked catalyst?



BTW please don't write all in capitals, netiquette (have I made up a word) dictates that this is shouting. ;)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
