G.tting the jobs done now we have a bit of decent weather.(at last)
Done the kingpin on nearside today. All went to plan but I had a slight problem. When taking off the circlip I found that one of the holes,(for circlip pliers to go in) was about half the size of the other one. Caused a problem, but not unsurmountable.
Has anyone else had this problem?
You could certainly tell which bearing was the bottom one. How does water get in there in the first place, because judging by the underside of the car I an 90% sure it hasn't been of .froaded.

The circlip holes are that way i presume so that one side is a tight fit for the pliers to work against.
The water will get in around the swivel seals especially if they're getting old. Even if its not been offroad they wear as any water sits in the bottom bearing. I had a year without taking mine off road but it still hammered the bearings.

I couldn't get the pliers in. It is either a crafty ploy by those little people who build Jimny's to try and get you to use main dealers or a faulty circlip. Due to lack of response on here I suspect the latter.

I can only just get mine in and have to kind of push and jiggle it!

No they are all like that. Very difficult to undo. I guess we are so used to doing the impossible that 10 minutes fiddling with a circlip doesn't get a mention
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
