cold heater out put and side light warning was created by anth69y
hello
new owner of a w/2000 jimny soft top and would like to know i notice in the service manual that there is a main beam warning light on the dash but could anyone tell me should there be a side/dip head light warning bulb on the dash as mine does not have one atleast it does not light anything when lights r switched on.
also heater never gets hot pipe in gets warm and engine runs at half way up temp gauge . heater controls r all working fine , any ideas could it be air locked?

There is no sidelight warning light, i tend to leave mine on by accident quite often as there doesnt appear to be a beep whern you open the door either!
Have a look at the side of the heater box beside the clutch pedal, the controls there tend to get kicked and broken, mine is stuck on hot at the moment.

I have a rag-top Jimny same vintage as yours. It gives out an audible warning if you remove the key whilst any lights are on, either headlights, parkers or interior light so you have a minor fault there.
Heater control problem: Move the control left and right and observe whether the cable is moving the control under the dash. It is in plain view. Sometimes, the outer sheath slips and the inner cable no longer pushes the control or doesn't push it far enough. On the blue setting (Cold) the wire cable should retract to within 15mm of the outer sheath. Then when you push the control over to Red (Hot) the inner cable will push the control and be about 55mm away from the outer sheath. There is a screw holding the outer cable about 20mm up from the bottom of cable cover. This can be loosened and the outer sheth slipped up or down as required.
