Is anything "bolt-on" available for the front of a Jimny?

Also can anyone recommend any tow ropes, etc? Wont be doing anything extreme, just be handy to have something in the car.

The apio bolt on ones are the only ones i've seen too. I'm going to get some made up hopefully that are similiar.

If you search on difflock for "lifechooser" theres a thread on there about the apio ones, he got some via a friend of his that imports jap motors iirc.

The standard ones are ok for a "gentle" pull and definitely no snatch recovery. I use a short strap across the 2 and a 4 metre strap. I've not been stuck for a long time though and only needed any help when i was cross axled(will get it stuck again in the same spot to try left foot braking and see if i can get out). I'd always recommend a bridle to halve the load seen at each point. The points on mine have a small hole at the bottom and a bigger one nearer the chassis i use these as i cant get the shackles through the others, be aware that it will pull against the bumper - especially if you're not pulling perfectly straight.

My straps are from damar(sp) webbing on ebay, i got the short one from them at a show though. Another was acquired from a mate. I'd not use a KERR on the stock points.
Straps are easier to handle and to clean imo. You'll need some shackles too, i use blue pin ones again i think the cheapest i could find them was ebay. I tried local lifting suppliers and everything was a fortune.

Bertie bas on difflock is highly recommended on there for recovery gear.

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

The lacking recovery points also worry me, as the tie-down eyelets aren't really that strong. Proof:

Japanese APIO makes some very interesting attachments, but I haven't researched the topic of shipping yet. It looks to be quite expensive anyway, for just a few pieces of metal. Hope these pics give someone the idea of manufacturing them closer to Europe

Was winched out of a muddy swamp at the weekend using the standard rear one and it seemed ok. My mate also winched himself (Fourtrak) out of a bog using the front standard ones on my Jimny. So they are ok for that.

VAXXi How on earth did you manage that!!? I'm guessing kinetic recovery.
I have a standard towbar on the back and that's been used on the few occasions I've been recovered backwards, by winch, I wouldn't use it for kinetic though.
doncarlyon, I've used a strop between the standard front eyes, again for winch recovery, wouldn't do kinetic on their either.
I remember an incident many years ago recovering a Trooper with the official Izuzu tow rope, the forged hook on the end of it made a beautiful hole through the rear door of the Ninety as it straightened and let go of the Trooper when the "load" was applied. Recovery is a dangerous excercise.
Cheers,
John.
