HD steering damper was created by Asbojimny
Anyone know if there's any Heavy Duty steering dampers out there for sale.???

Running 30's the Jimny feels a bit,er........ twitchy. A kind of aqua plaining without the water!!! At low sppeds on rough A roads and at speed on Motorways, hope this might help resolve the problem.

Cheers.

How's this for you.............

1st i bought a bracket from Dave at www.llama4x4.co.uk for the bargain cost
of £5.00

Then i ordered a Discovery series 1 steering damper from Tamar 4x4
stores.ebay.co.uk/tamar-4x4-store
Cost £17.48 delivered

I found a peice of 6mm angle iron in our scrap bin perfect for the job

I then drilled a 16mm hole this is the correct size for the damper bushes

So now we have all the parts we'll get started

I cut off this recovery eye from the near side front chassis rail

This was left and all was ground down nice and flat

Meanwhile the bracket from llama was fastened to the steering arm close to
the pitman arm

After a few trial fittings the bracket was welded in place where the recovery
eye was

The damper was the all offered up to check all measurements were correct the masking tape shows
1. fully closed
2. Centred position 103mm

Then its a matter of cleaning up and fitting the damper ensuring everything
is nice and tight and then enjoy how your Jimny drives

Big thanks to chrisuki for all the help and cups of tea

Thanks for that Jamie, top write up. Much appreciated, will need to get onto llama at start of week. Just got wheels aligned, makes a difference. The wheels were toe'd inwards so all zero'd out now.

Llama's out of stock of brackets,i'll just make one up,ordered the Disco steering damper, hopefully have it fitted for end of week :)
