Hi there,
right I'm not no mechanic but il have a go. Iv had an oil leak for about a month which I thought was the sump so I took it off cleaned it up and re-sealed it back on but no luck it's still leaking . I have now narrowed it down to the engine / gearbox seal, has anyone ever heard of oil leaking from here before and is it easy to change or does the gearbox have to be dropped out.
If anyone could help this would be appreciated.
Thanks
James

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Is it gear oil? very smelly and you wont wash the smell off.
If it is engine oil then most likely the rear crankshaft oil seal is leaking.
The gearbox has to be moved back, the clutch removed, then the flywheel comes off, and the seal can be changed.
If it is gear oil then the front gearbox oil seal has to be changed: remove the gearbox.
If it is only a few drips, buy a cheap baking tray, weight it with gravel and position over the mark on your drive to collect the drips.
