This is my first winter with the yellow one and I'm noticing that the windscreen is seemingly really prone to collecting road filth. I get that if something big goes past in the opposite direction you cop for a face full, however on Sunday we went to elvington  air museum in temeraire in virtually identical conditions to today and even on the dual carriageway round York I didn't need to wash the screen once and yet this morning on a country road that is equally dry I have had to wash my screen 4 times already yet there's  only been 2 cars going in the opposite direction. Is it worth looking at one of those leading edge plastic spoiler things, do they work on a jimny? Leviathan the cruiser came with one and doesn't seem to have a problem but I don't have a point of reference for if it's the plastic thing doing something or if the cruiser is just a clean car by design?

l've never noticed the need to wash the screen more frequently in our Jimny. However l am comparing it to my Defender which is effectively the same vehicle but larger!
l would imagine the deflector will only work at higher speeds.

So of all the ones I have seen they all appear to be chip protection rather than deflectors as in there's no obvious aero element to them like a little vertical spoiler or suchlike. Am I missing something or are they all like that?

Forgive me for asking but what products are you looking at? Is this a windscreen deflector? I didn't know you could get something like that. I only know of the bonnet guards which we have on ours which is designed for stone chipping along the front of the bonnet. It doesn't provide any protection to the windscreen or improved cleanliness to the car.

My thoughts are the windscreen on a Gen4 gets filthy faster because the windscreen is more vertical and the front of the car is fairly square compared to a Gen3.

Both of these will mean a Gen 4 is less aerodynamic and gives rise to more turbulence which deposits more filth.

Even if you do fit a bonnet deflector, that might not solve the turbulence caused by the steepness of the windscreen and hence still collect filth more quickly.

I don't have a picture of it but on my cruiser the bonnet leading edge protector has a quite pronounced angle different from the actual bonnet and a little kick on it's trailing edge that seems to work remarkably well at keeping the screen clear of the small drops of road grime that come off other cars.it still builds over time but nowhere near as fast as the yellow one. It's less effective for trucks but i accept that. All the ones I have found for the jimny simply follow the profile of the bonnet without attempting to modify the air flow.
