Will I get there? was created by yakuza
As some of you may have noticed, I go on a trip from time to time.
Right now people I know are delayed, flight cancelled and, one mate was stuck in UK last night from the drone activity around european air ports. This time in Denmark and Norway. Flights are definately not my idea of time off.
It got me thinking how I slightly worry if I will get there when I drive my old 2006 VW T5 or my old 2005 Jimny.
But this summer while driving my 1984 SJ there was absolutely no worries!

The only time I have ever wondered if I would make it was October last year on my annual jaunt round the north of Scotland. When the 90 plus miles per hour winds struck I decided that maybe being in the teeth of a storm clinging to the side of some remote mountain road was probably not a clever idea. I'm sure I probably would have been fine but I didn't want to find out. That's the only time in recent memory that I haven't been confident i would arrive on time where I wanted to be and that was me not the jimny.

Bad weather can be fun but, having some experience from search and rescue, I try not to put myself in a situation where my stupidity would have to make someone come for me in bad weather.
Also the SAR resources can be under pressure and busy helping others in need.
Sounds like your risk assesment is good Lambert.
Have to mention the reason for my lesser trust in the Jimny was the modified transfer case, gearbox and wheel bearing noise.
Most need no explanation as to why i have lesser trust in the VW.
