Hi all,
I'm sure this has come up lots of times before. I recently got a 2005 jimny which has the front locking hubs, but the 4x4 will not kick in and when 4L is pressed it beeps. I have tried looking at what was done and followed the steps with blocking the valves which wasn't done. I'm also not getting any warning lights or flashing green light. When i press the button i can hear a clicking sound as though it is trying to complete the process.
Would anyone have a idea what else to check?

Also is there anyway I can manually lock it in 4x4 eliminating the button?

Simplest thing first, you are stopped and pressing the clutch when selecting 4lo?

Since you have manual locking hubs, the clicking sound is either coming from the transfer case (under the centre of the car) or possibly from the solenoids on the vacuum system for the vac hubs (near the battery).
You don’t need the solenoids to be working if you have manual hubs, but then you should get a flashing green light to say the hubs aren’t locked and you are not.
Either the 4WD controller is not working correctly or the transfer case is not switching in to 4WD, possibly the TC actuator or may be the switch in the TC to say it is in 4WD.
The wiki has a very good section on diagnosing faults, I added a link to your other topic.
