I always fit these to my builds... as well as protecting the susceptible flimsy original bracket they also bolt onto it to stop it shearing off
Fitted pic -
See how the longer shock bolt goes through the 5mm steel guard and then through the original bracket and shock, thus also supporting the shock and it's mount....
And they end up at basically the same height as the bottom of the radius arm, so no ground clearance is lost -
