Hi there
We are new to the Jimny. And it is failing to start all of a sudden. We have noticed that there is a clicking noise coming from the rear of the manifold when the key is turned. which is in the images. Not sure what this is or what part it plays and whether this is the likely cause or if it’s the starter motor maybe? Any suggestions welcome, before we attempt to gain access to the starter...

The part you've circled is the EGR valve....not related to the engine starting issue.
Try the engine ground which is near the starter motor and the single actuator wire along with the positive feed to the solenoid for tightness/cleanliness.
Remove the stabiliser bracket to the inlet manifold if you have to replace the starter motor....makes life a little easier.
AEY2555 is the auto electro number for the starter.

The solenoid on your starter motor is playing up. If you tap the gearbox it might free it up with the shock but it will continue to do it until replaced.
See if you can find a place to refurbish it as it only needs the solenoid, rather than a whole new starter.
