Up till now I thought I had just kept knocking my tracking out but turns out if I turn the wheel to full lock so the wheel stops then carry on turning a bit harder (not massively hard) I can move the steering wheel. Now I have only found this out when I get to work this morning so will check the splines are all tight and the ujs in a bit but is there any thing else it could be just of the tops of your heads??
My steering box dose have play in it and has been tighten but dose need replacing I have a spare just not put it in yet

Sounds suspiciously like a worn steering column joint, does it do it equally both ways?

If it what I think you mean it's to minimize nvh up the column. Is the additional movement to a hard or soft stop?
