Replacing gearbox with different gearbox code was created by Ahmadkhalil
Hello everyone,
I am writing to all jimny experts here in a hope of getting a quick information about gearbox code.
I have a 2009 model suzuki jimny with automatic gearbox
My car's information is as below;
Engine type : M13A
Engine no. : M13A-2078332
VIN : js3jb43v794100746
Gearbox code : 76j3*
Car is in middle east
Now here's the main thing... i have a gearbox problem with my car i. e. Have it checked in suzuki's service center and they said that gearbox is gone. (i am not going into problem details right now as it is less relevant) so, i am looking for replacing a whole gearbox with other one which i can get from aftermarket.
So i have found one used gearbox in perfect condition which is all good to be replaced except one thing. It's of 2009 jimny's but with different gear code i. e. 76j9*
Seller is saying everything is same and it will work fine with your jimny but i want an expert opinion and more information about it.
So if anyone has any idea about the difference between 76j3* and 76j9* gearbox codes and any information about its replacement, please share with me.
I'll really appreciate a quick response.
Thanks,
And here's the one i am going to replace mine with

Just from Google "jimny 76J9" it could be your AT with the code 76J9 is from a K6A engined Jimny.
Wich makes for a slightly different gear ratio see link above.
Might not be a problem but I have no idea if there could be other torque and rpm settings for when it will shift or something, I am not too well into the auto gearboxes.
