Rear seat removal was created by NicBeeee
Hi,
I am now in the 4th month of my first Jimny ownership and I can honestly say I think they are a great little car. However I have finally turned it into a van by removing the two rear seats, creating some needed hidden storage in the process. So now it is a great little van. My question is this, am I going to have to re install the rear seats everytime for the MOT. Not a major job as the rear timber work can just be slotted out. And am I breaking any VOSA rules by doing this, I dont really want to have to change it to a two seater and I only removed the leather rear seats as I didnt want them to get damaged by my gardening stuff as they are in perfect condition. If I ever sell it they will be put back in.

The MOT will simply list an advisory to the effect that the rear seats were removed and it was not possible to check the rear seat belts.
You need to advise your insurance though as it is considered a modification
No need to be concerned about VOSA as it's not a permanent change.

Would be interesting to see if those mot testers were to actually check the the rear seat belts on vehicles fitted with them, as they're supposed to. But will always be different, some will do their job to the letter whilst others do it slap-dash and just take the cash.
