I had one in my old freelander on a flying lead that I used for bike rack lighting board. there's sufficient gap in the door seals of any landrover product for a 7 way trailer cable (or a bus for that matter)

Not quite sure what you mean by "flying lead"? :blush:
I just think the cubby hole lends itself well to hiding a socket plus its out the way of water mud etx and its not cluttering up the rear end
