I've been given a cb today that's been sat in some one loft its got no leads etc but I rigged up a power lead and got it to turn on it all lit up but I could get no sound would it have to have a Arial and mic etc to work properly, I wanted to know weather its going to work before I buy the bits that are needed

cleaned it up earlier and give it a polish and a bit of paint and made a bracket

also does any one know if its any good make and modal on the front in pictures

Yes, and then you'll just hear a hissing noise, as long as the squelch isn't turned fully up.
If you do connect an aerial to it, you still might not hear much if anything unless there's locals with CBs nearby.
It used to be channels 14, 19. 16 that were the 'call up' channels, 9 was the emergency channel.
Channel 2 used to have a loud continuous single tone.
Mind you, that was on the original AM frequency, never used the FM when that was brought in.

Oh, yes it was a good make in its time.

By the way, the Colt is AM not FM.
