If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Do an oil change on the hard top.
If the oil is clean & runny keep it, 100,000miles is nothing for a twin cam that has been looked after.
If it is all black tarry & sludgy sell it, neglecting the oil kills the top end.
