4 wheel drive problem! was created by BrownSki
Hi all,

Having a bit of problem with my 4wheel drive! When I jacked it up and engaged it into 4 wheel drive, all four wheels went round, when I let it down and drove it again, only the rears we're working, so I then stuck it in reverse and all 4 wheels worked! Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Cheers.

Sounds to me like the vacuum pipes could have a split in it somewhere.. thats if you havent already got manual front hubs

With all four off the ground and engage drive all the wheels would probably turn even in 2 WD due to friction in the transfer box ( you used to see JCBs wheels turning when they were jacked off the ground due to the same.
You only need to jack one front wheel, engage 4wd (high or low) withe the engine running and main gearbox in neutral. Get out and try to turn that wheel. If you can't turn it everything is working OK. If you can turn it something's wrong.
