Hi guys - wondering if you can help me with a quick question.

I want to drain the oil from my UK W reg Jimnys gearbox - the drain plug has a hole for a driver (square I think) - does anyone know the exact size so I am not messing about trying to find materials or drivers that maybe do the job (don't want to damage the plug) - OR! do ya know where I might get a tool made for the removal, once I have bought it then it is there to use anytime I want.

Cheers.

D Hall

You can get a set of drain plug keys for about £10 which covers various square & hexagonal sizes.

This is what I do, but forgot to mention that in my first post

10mm square.

If you use a 3/8 and the plug is tight, the 3/8 will go round, and it makes the vaguely square hole all round too, then nothing will fit except a hammer and chisel.

Having said that, I use a 3/8 like everybody else ;)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
