The (1998-2005) 5dr grand vitara is 1850kg and 3dr is less, so the vitara will be lower but slightly more than the jimny.
Not a tow car for much more than a small trailer in my opinion.

from looking at old difflock posts it can legally tow a 1450kg braked trailer
apparently its on the chassis plate on the bulkhead under the bonnet

The handbook also states 1450kg but the Suzuki towbar does use an additional two long bolts that go up through the chassis - that makes it much stronger than the cheap type that just has the two bolts on either side.
