Fitting Steering Damper Question was created by JivingDaddy
Following a bit of encouragement from Mark, I decided to grow a pair so I could buy and install a steering damper myself.

However, looking at various pics/instructions, there seems to be a conflicting opinion as to which way round to fit it. Extending arm on the steering bar or on the body. My personal preference is to fit the extending arm to the steering bar (and the main (heaviest) part of the unit to the body), but will bow to more experienced opinion.

I was hoping to fit today, but will await expert opinion and fit tomorrow.

By the way, are they always that stiff? I almost got a hernia extending and compacting to check the middle distance. Do they loosen up a bit with use? I presume the steering box will cope OK with the additional force required to change direction (it must do, seems thousands have been sold).

It doesn't really matter which way round you wanna install it, but most people fit it so that the shock body is mounted to chassis and the extending part on drag link.

And yes, it's supposed to be stiff, but you won't notice it when you turn the steering wheel. :)
