If they are the same as Marks bumpers I can confirm they are far from flimsy and Mark doesn't seem to struggle with approach angles.
Having experienced Marks Jimny and the way he drives it off road they are super tough!!!

Point taken Dave cc.
goatboy- Thanks for sharing your experience of Marks Jimny (and driving) with the Elite bumper. Good to get some "ground truth."

As with most things there is a compromise. It you want a bullet proof bumper then it's gonna be excessively heavy.
The elite bumper is made of 4 and 5 mm steel. It held fast with brakes on and up a steep hill with just the winch pull with no probs. pulling a car out of a ditch as well with no probs. jimny doesn't get stuck!!!!
As for recover eyes on it I think they are 5mm material. For the weight of the jimny is plenty.
For approach angles it is far better than the standard bumper. I will take a picture from the side when I can.
Andy who makes this bumper has been making them for years for the LR boys and supplies flatdog, goodwinch, britpart and others with products. This is the first version he has done for the jimny. And I have the first off....
It's another offering its up to you wether it is what you want. I am very happy with what it does for me.

Dont suppose he does a rear would be up for 1 if he did and you are dead rite about weight thicker the steel heavier the bumper.
As regrads the recovery points i dont like recovery points on the bumper itself as if you run a snatch block you can end up doubling the load on the bumper mounts and bolts better to have the recovery points mounted some where else to the chassis and spread the load in my opinion

Bugger, I was expecting chirpy chirpy cheap cheap
Back to the winch tray idea I think for me, less weight out over the front the better
