Mini-spools are so cheap, was thinking of putting one in the front diff now that they make 'em for the Jimny. $105 seems very cheap and the PDF for fitting looks really straight forward. I think lockers or auto-lockers are the go for rear but fitting mini-spool to front makes sense as on the road you don't engage the front diff so it would only come on when you go off-road and so being permanently locked up seems pretty good to me.
Putting that thing in the front is one of the more stupid things you can do! After all you might need 4wd on road too like in the snow, and with that thing it's impossible to drive. And even if you would need 4wd only when offroading, it would still be shit. Hard to steer and everything. Better off putting that thing to rear where it should go, and use auto locker up front...(and even that's not very sensible. Arb is the way to go if you need front locker)
I havent seen the product before so i can only go with what i know about spools on rc cars .
There are 2 types
Locked spool ( like the one above )
And a one way spool
A locked spool is just that its like welding your diff gears so even though in 2wd you wont have power going to the diff it still wont work as a diff on the corners
In thr rc world a one way spool i favored as this give some turning ability without losing to much to the diff spinning
For what they are offering and the work involved in fitting why not just weld your diff
