Can anyone advise me the legality ( MOT ) on how far wheel arches
should cover tyres .I am just starting to make my moulds for
the lookalike 33" bad boy arches.:evil: :evil:

Legally the wheel/ tyre should not pertude the archs, tyre should

If I remember correctly, only the sidewall can stick out from the arches, none of the tread pattern should show outside the arches, if you get my drift.
We used to allow about half an inch showing, anymore than that or any tread showing, I'm afraid it meant a summons if you didn't 'fix' it within a week.
Why not nip into a MOT station and ask them?

This is what I understood, its why the VW boys have "stretch" look to get wider wheels on but keep the tread under the arches...

There is nothing in the MOT that states you must have mud gaurds... the tyres do not need to be covered at all.
HOWEVER... there is a think called "The construction and useage act" which states that Mr Plod can nick you for not having them 100% covered... They class it as moving parts accessable to the public.
I can personally verify this is correct, I have read the MOT law, checked with several MOT inspectors... and been knicked by the Mr Plod for having wheels sticking out...
Any MOT man who says they need to be covered for the "MOT" ask him to show you in the book where it states that... it's no in there...

as above it should not fail a mot with the tyres sticking out ive mot'd a few like that & never had a problem but you will get a ticket of pc plod if they pull you up for it
sounds stupid realy but thats the way they work in this country its same with alot of thing you can go buy from a shop perfectly legal to buy but its not legal to own or use
