well i noticed a squeeking a few times on the Jimny, random times but could come and stay for quite a while and was very ANNOYING. Traced it to the rear shock top bush, had play in it and was squeeking.
Today started to get a knocking sound which i put down to the new backbox as i was messing with the position and the hangers, secured the box but still knocking so immediatly thought of that rear shock top bush. It was indeed causing now a knocking noise which is understandable if theres play, just wasnt knocking before....? As i was lifting car up and rocking i was shaking the shock with my hand but felt loose at top and bottom??
Anywayssss, i thought it seemed like they wernt tight or the bush's were totally in bits (doubtfull) I checked the bottom and top bolts of the shockers and they were all loose! Not about to fall out but all needed nipping up, so did all of them. By the way the bottom bolts were the ones that hold the shocker to the re-location bracket and not the one that goes through the bracket into axle. ....knocking gone (for now lol) but it drives quite a bit nicer, noticed how much LESS twitchy it is now and was nicer again on the motorway.
These bolts WERE tight, so have obviously worked loose, only been fitted a few month so just a heads up it might be worth checking them out to make sure.. This was all on a procomp 3" lift kit.
