2006 Jimny small project(not!)

So I posted in the “what have you done to your Jimny today?”topic, had a few comments that this little job deserved its own thread, so here goes!
Last year I purchased a 2006 Jimny as a small project for my 15 year old daughter who wants one as her first car, she has a keen interest in engineering so I thought it was a good educational project that we could spend some time together doing, after all it came with  full MOT and a couple of advisories about surface corrosion, surely this was a simple short term project, how wrong I was!
so here we are 12 months in, 1 new chassis, 10 new oem panels, 6 self fabricated panels, every bush, bearing and bolt replaced, gearbox, transfer box and axles restored to new condition, countless small parts and a number of man hours I care not to calculate! We are very close to completion so I thought I would share some photos of our totaly unviable project and how proud I am of  my daughters abilities and commitment on this journey.

Looks awesome. It definetly deserved its own Thread! Well done on saving a Jimny. So many get scrapped when the rust becomes an MOT failure. But if you are able to put money & time into the car then you can create a car that will live on for a very long time.
