Why don't we get this stuff in the UK?

I used to drive one doing highway maintenance, it was a chinese version of the Suzuki carry called a DFSK we had a 1.0l and a 1.3l and they were rear wheel drive made of tin the engine was under the seat, worst thing to drive, rear brakes would lock up and the back end would always come out there is a person who sells them on gum tree and eBay I've seen cherry pickers on the back of them. They are also not cheap!

I had an Acty Romahome and the little engine did the job.
I also had a Daihatsu HiJet but the thought of some sort of head on accident didn't inspire confidence.
It has to be remembered that these vehicles are primarily designed for urban / town use so are more likely to be operated at lower speeds.
In the UK things like the the Piaggio Ape three wheeler are not popular due to our driving habits but in Italy and the Far East similar vehicles suit the conditions.
There are plenty of vehicles like this but not 4WD.

The extra weight in the back should sort the brake issues did you drive yours loaded? The local council contractors use them, made by Dong Feng, they are a company to watch out for - the Chinese are coming!

Tbh it just used to carry about 6 road signs and they used to fly about everywhere in the back it was also on leaf springs

Just as a matter of interest the old Commers,BMC and the later Sherpas were like that as well. They were designed to carry loads in the back so a couple of people in the front with a front engine and no load equalled loss of traction.
