I've had varifocals from spec savers twice
I always go for the top of the range lenses as the cheaper ones have a large area of unground lens at the sides, the expensive ones less so
You also need to know the lens manufacturer as the first pair from spec savers were made by Hoya and were really good but about £200 extra over the standard ones.
I then had some new glasses from them but the lens maker was Pentax and even though they were their top of the range at the same premium, they were rubbish compared to the Hoya - they went back and I got a refund
ASDA also use Hoya for their premium varifocals so I shall be going there next time
As with anything you only get what you pay for the dearer the varifocals the larger the in focus area
Varilux premium varifocals are also very good but stupidly expensive!
Hope this helps

Just an update, I went back to Asda and they adjusted the angle tilting them slightly forward at the top which helped a wee bit. Stil nor happy I went back and asked for single vision lenses which I now have , at no extra cost , and are much better. Just don't think I'm ready for varifocals yet! Cheers

I have been using verifocals' for the last 2 years and find them fantastic for riding/driving.Had a very expensive pair last year and a cheap pair this year from spec savers I can't even tell the difference.
If you are thinking of trying varifocals don't be put off by the comments on here.
