Varifocals!! was created by Johnniehec
Hi, I got a new pair of glasses from ASDA couple of weeks ago, I need them for distance vision and have had ordinary lenses for about 30 years. This time I got Varifocals, I thought I was getting used to them but out on a punch hunt on Sunday they were terrible! Spotting tree stumps and other obstacles was a nightmare! Looking straight ahead was OK but everything low level over the front of the bonnet or to either side was all blurry. I'm going back with them tonight,
Has anyone else noticed the same? Maybe it's just Asda?

B)

Cheers,
John.

On the 8th Day God made the LandRover -
On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.

when you start using varifocals it can take a while to get used to them, having to move your head rather then just your eyes.

I always used specsavers, but last year switched to asda .. they were half the price and much better on quality and expertise, I was supprised as most asda stuff is pants.

think the depth of the specs plays an issue, I've quite narrow depth, hence have to look up and down less to switch vision types, whereas with larger aviator style depth lenses, I'd imagine you'd end up like the chuchill nodding dog, which combined with a bouncing Jimny could be a problem

ps. I am not a dentist :S

I tried varifocals for flying, big mistake!
At least Specsavers gave me my money back after 3 months of trying with them.

It was, as you say, ok distance and the instruments but to each side was as if I was on acid.
Went back to bi-focals and squinting.

Fallen down any steps yet? they take some getting used too and there are also different types of lenses, some (the cheaper types) give a much narrower spread of vision. I have a love/hate relationship with mine, hopeless without them but with them nothing is at the correct range without lifting or lowering my head. No problem with driving though. Specsavers have four different specs for varifocals:

Edit: I have larger lenses as well so its probably a more gradual change.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.
