Starting to get warm in Victoria and the bushfires have started getting fair dinkum. They are in the Grampians at the moment, South Ausy has a few and we are all making preparations.

I live on the coast about 50 k's south of Melbourne Vic and it is 39C (102.2F) with tonights overnight minimum predicted to be 27C (80.6F)
and 41C (105.8F) tomorrow. Then I believe it will warm up.

I spend a lot of time in the Grampians in my Jimny and in the Little Desert which is not far away.

I feel for the Firies who perform miracles in very trying circumstances.

I wish everyone who comes into contact with them the best and hope that lives and homes are not lost.

Fires are within 20 k's now, down at Hastings, Bittern and Crib Point. I go back to work in the Hills at Balnarring on Monday and may be called out in a Dozer if things get a little interesting. I've been called out in previous years with the Volvo a40d 6wd articulated tanker truck which has water cannon mounted all over it, including dousing itself cos ya gotta look after the worker

No confirmed deaths yet, some of the firies have smoke inhalation problems, only a couple of dozen houses lost so far. Temp at home has dropped from 41 to about 32 at the moment and even a few sprinkles of rain.

South Ausy is copping it worse than us, with wind up to 110 kph, I think it only got to 90 kph here.

So, as the man said as he fell from the 39th floor "So far, so good" :woohoo:
