What are these bugs?

Anyone know what these are? See pic below.

They seem to appear at the beginning of the summer and then disappear only to reappear the following year at the same time.

What type of ant (flying and non flight) are they, are they killable and how do I stop them coming back?

The things are coming out of mortar joints in an old outhouse, the critters are on the walls inside and outside.
Lots of them are large and have wings and the little ones are running round as if they're on Red Bull!!

Anyone got any tis of getting shut of them?

Have tried ant and bug/insect killer spray from B&Q, Lots of dead bodies about outside but loads more still coming and going.

By the way, no sign of any food source in the outhouse although there is a working freezer in there.
No critters in the freezer although the picture shows the little & large pair on the top of the freezer.

Hoping someone has thoughts on the matter?

Next step might be a large propane torch and see just how much heat they can endure.

we've had them - they are young queen ants flying off to start a new nest
the best way we found to get rid of them is to find the trail and put an ant trap or two there
they will disappear in a few days

in between I enjoyed boiling them!!

Had these things popping up all over my block paving and pushing up all the sand, I've used the powder, they get covered in it and take it into the nests, seemed to do the trick, the next day I couldn't see any. They do come back every year around this time though as you've mentioned.

Our visitors seem to have flown the nest, the wingless ones were seen disappearing down the road by a neighbour, thousands of the blighters.

I think it'll be a case of re-pointing all the joints in the brickwork before they return next year.
